More and more counties are joining the movement to legalize cannabis, smoking weed is becoming more conventional than ever. However, there are many benefits to cannabis and with today’s marijuana hype there is no better time than the present to jump aboard the “Green-Train”…
Congratulations, you’ve decided that you’re finally ready to try cannabis for the first time. Perfect. Beautiful. You're at the right place. Let me be the 1st to welcome you to the Cannabis Community. But before you take that first toke, below is a small amount of advice so you know what you’re getting into.
What to expect when smoking for the first time, inhaling cannabis smoke and where to from here. In this article, I highlight some of the important factors to remember like easing into cannabis use and knowing your limits. Below is a quick look at some of the do's and don’ts around smoking cannabis.
What to expect smoking cannabis for the first time?
You will hear most people say that you don’t get high the first time you smoke cannabis. This might be true for some and I have met people that will argue. Some have experienced giggles and laughter while others merely a light head buzz. At the end of the day, we all want to experience cannabis and value in its medicinal qualities. The exact effect will ultimately be a very personal and unique experience.
There are millions of people that will tell you only great things about cannabis. Time for you to try it and decide what you think and truly feel about this healing plant.
How to inhale and actually smoke cannabis?
Cannabinoids need to reach your bloodstream and the only way we can do that is by inhaling the smoke for our lungs to process. Many people are afraid to inhale cannabis smoke properly for the first time which we can naturally understand. If you don’t feel a positive change in your body and mood, maybe you aren’t inhaling properly. Ask your experienced friends about how they inhale. Each person has their own technique to smoking and the amount they inhale with every drag.
There are many ways in which to consume cannabis, smoking is merely the most common way. If smoking won't work for you, healthier options include vaporizing, edibles and concentrate extracts.
What should you eat and drink before and after smoking?
Water is the most important substance that a human can consume, cannabis coming second of course. Make sure to hydrate every day, but especially during and after a good cannabis smoking session. There is a list of foods that one can eat before and during a joint that affects the high of cannabis slightly. For example, mangos are said to intensify your cannabis experience.
I am sure you will discover the munchies. This generally occurs after a good smoking session, but you have to experience it for yourself. But be prepared. Going shopping after your smoke is not a great idea. Unless you have a lot of extra cash to spend and a whole lot of time to kill... for munchie food!
Take is easy, and gradually upgrade from there?
It depends who you smoke with for the first time and how you smoke for the first time. Some people start with a joint and stick to joints their whole lives. I suggest you start with something small, take a few drags from a joint and wait for 5 minutes before dragging anymore. Once you are comfortable with the feeling and how you smoke it then you can move onto greater things.
Dabs and THC concentrates are potent, and you don’t need a lot. However, I do suggest you try a dab or smoking a vaporizer. At least once you know what it’s all about. Vaporizers are also appreciated for their full flavour effects and smoothness on the throat and lungs. This is more for experienced smokers as the high is very affecting, and “mind-blowing”. Today a lot of people begin with dabs because of the health benefits as appose to burning dry herb and excess material. This is still important to note, only take small dabs as a first-time smoker.
Make sure you have nothing to do?
If it is your first-time trying cannabis, make sure that you don’t have any studying or housework to do. It won’t always make you lazy but it’s mainly to enjoy and fully experience your first cannabis experience. Without having to worry about anything else. Make sure to download a food delivery app, when the munchies strike. My first few times there was nothing better than biting into my favourite food or snack.
If there is an emergency, you will still have perfect motor skills to do what you will need to do. Perhaps just a little more paranoid than normal. If you feel woozy at all after a few drags, climb into a shower and drink one or two glasses of water. You should feel better after a few minutes lying down. My go-to has always been a block of my favourite dark chocolate to sober me right up.
Make sure the group of people you are with are in your trust circle?
I believe the most important part about your first time is choosing the people you do it with. Just be comfortable with your surroundings and the people therein, for the best experience. There are still some days that friends and I will laugh until we can’t breathe, which is one of the best feelings ever.
It also matters where the cannabis is from and who rolled it, some bad people are into lasing cannabis to make it stronger. When you trust and know the people you are smoking with the chances of having a fantastic first time is really high! Plus, we are all about saving the world and being kind to all living creatures, negativity has no room for your first-time smoking cannabis.
Learn your limits through gradual smoking with friends?
Your aim is to get high for the first time, so if you feel stoned after a few drags don’t feel ashamed to pass on the pipe. The group of friends you have and develop through smoking cannabis are true at heart and want the same for everyone, happiness. So, make a group of friends that will use cannabis to its full advantage, by going on hikes and various high related adventures.
When you start to grow things can also become awesome when you and your friends swop strains that you’ve grown and chosen to smoke.
I know that you will love every moment…
To some people, cannabis is life-changing, by helping people do things they couldn’t before because of pain or disease. Personally, I enjoy cannabis every day and truly have a passion for cannabis growth, any plant growth for that matter. I have come to love cannabis over the years and can’t imagine my life without it. I know that most of you will come to love and appreciate the positivity and pureness of cannabis.
